PTPTN (Kuching Campus)
Eligibility

Applicant must:
  • Be a Malaysian
  • Not be a recipient of other loans (MARA or JPA loan) or scholarship (internal or external)
  • Possess a Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or O Level*
  • Possess a Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) must qualify to enter UCSI University.
  • Possess other recognized certificates to qualify for a degree programme: STPM, A-Levels, UEC, SAM**, AUSMAT**, CPU**, CIMP**, UCSI University Foundation, Local Matriculation or Recognized Diploma
  • Enrol in a Private Tertiary Education Institution (IPTS) that offers a full-time degree or diploma course that is approved by MQA & JPS
Other criteria:
  • For students applying for the second time, loans extended earlier by PTPTN must be settled in full prior to a fresh application.
  • Students who have received PTPTN loan through previous colleges/ universities but have left or have not completed their course, are required to terminate the contract and make full payment with PTPTN before a new application can be made.
  • Students who have completed the diploma and received a PTPTN loan, kindly fill up Borang Penangguhan Bayaran Balik. Please print out the form from the PTPTN website.
  • Balance of study upon application must not be less than one year.
  • As of January 2012, it is COMPULSORY to open a SSPN (Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional) account if students want to apply for a PTPTN loan.

1.   Programmes Eligible for a PTPTN Loan
Programmes eligible for PTPTN loan applications are:

Faculty of Hospitality & Tourism Management Code PTPTN
Diploma in Hotel Management B9513
Diploma in Culinary Arts C2767
Diploma in Leisure Management C8820
B.A (Hons) in Commerce B9514
B.A (Hons) in Event & Tourism Management B9510
B.A (Hons) in Hospitality Management B9508
2.   SSPN-i Account
Effective from January 2012, all PTPTN applicants MUST open an SSPN-i account before apply for PTPTN loan. Minimum deposit to open an account is only RM20. For fast transaction, you are advised to open the SSPN-i account with PTPTN Office.

Documents needed when opening an account are copy of applicant’s MyKad; copy of the child’s birth certificate and letter of Declaration/Certificate of Adoption (for parents who are opening an account for adopted child under their legal care).

Parents who have an SSPN-i account for their children will be given tax relief up to a maximum of RM6,000.00 per year subject to the total net savings in the current year.
3.   CIMB Saving Account
All students are required to open a normal saving account (under single name) for PTPTN loan application, and it must be from CIMB Bank only .

For students who are below 18 years old, you need to hold on to the application until you reach 18 years old to open the normal saving account (under single name).
4.   BSN - PTPTN PIN Number
  • The PIN number can be purchased from Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) for RM5.00 (valid for 6 months ONLY). Please keep the receipt for website log-in purposes.

5.   Online Application
All application for PTPTN loan must be made online. Application must apply through the PTPTN Online Application Website at http://www.ptptn.gov.my/gateway/ during the opening and closing dates of the application. Applicants are required to have an email yahoo.com or gmail.com for correspondence purposes.
6.   PTPTN Briefing Schedule for Online Application
Applicants must attend briefing as in the schedule below. The briefing include a step-by step guidance on how to apply for a PTPTN loan and the guidelines to complete PTPTN Agreement Documents.

7.   Application and Checking of Documents
Applicants are required to print out a copy of online application form with full details to Ms. Ting Nyik Eing, International Office, Ground Floor, UCSI University Kuching Campus for verification before submission to PTPTN via online.

8.   Application Deadline
All loan applications (online application) will be forwarded by applicants to PTPTN for processing BEFORE THE FOLLOWING DATES:
  • 31 May 2016
  • 30 June 2016
  • 31 January 2017
  • 28 February 2017
  • Applicants will be notified of the status of their application (Approved / Rejected) via sms and e-mail within seven (7) working days after the deadline.
  • Applicants may check the application status in the PTPTN Portal too.
  • Please contact Ms. Ting if there is no notification regarding application status.
  • For applicants who are applying PTPTN during the second semester or onwards, you may apply for PTPTN online application but kindly be noted that you will not get full disbursement amount.
After loan been approved by PTPTN, applicants are required to print two sets of the loan agreement and one set of supporting documents (A4, 80grams paper and single sided only).

The loan agreement will be expired if the agreement did not reach PTPTN office within the stipulated deadline (14 days from the approval date). Failure to do so, applicant is required to re-apply the PTPTN loan. Thus, it is important that all applicants must submit their documents listed below to Ms. Ting for verification and submission within 10 days from the approval date. The documents include:
  • Photocopy of Letter of Acceptance from UCSI University
  • 1 set of Printed Applicant Details from PTPTN website (CETAK MAKLUMAT – Maklumat Permohonan Pembiayaan)
  • 2 sets of Loan Agreement (Surat Tawaran)
  • 2 pieces of SETEM HASIL (RM10 each )

The above-mentioned documents must submit to Ms Ting by 17 June 2016, 15 July 2016, 15 February 2017 or 15 March 2017 respectively.

9.   PTPTN Loan Amount
The amount approved is based on parents' / guardians' monthly income. The amount given below is for each semester which will be disbursed twice a year (long semester ONLY):

Maximum Loan amount for First Degree student: RM6800 x 6 = RM40, 800
Maximum Loan amount for Diploma student: RM3400 x 5 = RM17, 000


Students are advised to be prepared to cover their own tuition fee till PTPTN disburses the loan. Please note that the loan amount might not able to cover all your tuition fee .
10.   Academic Performance

PTPTN will stop disbursements under the following circumstances:
  • Deferment of studies
  • Failure to complete studies within the designated time-frame
  • Student's Grade Point Average (GPA) is lower than 2.00 (50%).
  • Before disbursement of the loan, PTPTN will request the University to provide student's results at the end of each semester. Please take note that PTPTN has the right to discontinue disbursement of the loan if the student's academic performance has deteriorated.

* Please note that PTPTN will not pay back STOPPED PAYMENTS.
11.   Insurance
Starting 1st June 2008, all student recipients of the PTPTN loan must sign-up for the Students’ Insurance Policy.
  • The appointment of an insurance company and payment of premium (deducted from the loan total) will be handled by PTPTN.
  • Insurance deductions will be done for every semester when the loans are disbursed.
12.   Loan Repayment
Subject to the latest policy, PTPTN will charge a 1% service fee per year on the total outstanding loan amount. Graduates must start repaying the loan 6 months after graduation or employment (whichever is earlier).

The repayment period for:
  • Arts degree - 180 months (15 years)
  • Diploma - 120 months (10 years)
