PTPTN (Terengganu Campus)
Eligibility

Applicant must:
  • Be a Malaysian.
  • Not be a recipient of other loans (MARA or JPA loan) or scholarship (internal or external).
  • Have Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with at least three (3) credits.
  • Possess other recognised certificates to qualify for a degree programme: STPM, A-Levels, UEC, SAM, AUSMAT, CPU, CIMP, UCSI University Foundation, Local Matriculation or a Recognised Diploma.
  • Enrol in a Private Tertiary Education Institution (IPTS) that offers a full-time degree or diploma course that is approved by MQA & JPS.
Other criteria:
  • PTPTN loans require two (2) guarantors who must comprise the biological father and mother of the student, regardless of the parents' age and income.
  • For students applying for the second time, loans extended earlier by PTPTN must be settled in full prior to a fresh application.
  • The balance of study upon application must not be less than one year.
  • As of 1st January 2008, only students with an SSPN (Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional) account that is active at least two (2) weeks prior to application are eligible for PTPTN loans.
1.   Programmes Eligible for a PTPTN Loans
Programmes eligible for PTPTN loan applications are:

2.   SSPN Account
Effective from January 2012, all PTPTN applicants MUST open an SSPN account before apply for PTPTN loan. Minimum deposit to open an account is only RM20. An SSPN account can be opened at Maybank, CIMB Bank, Bank Simpanan Nasional, Agro Bank, Bank Rakyat and Bank Islam.

For fast transaction, you are advised to open the SSPN account with Maybank only.

You can check your SSPN account statement the next day after opening your SSPN account on the PTPTN website.
3.   Online Application
All application for PTPTN loan must be made online. Application must apply through the PTPTN Online Application Website at http://www.ptptn.gov.my during the opening and closing dates of the application. Applicants are required to have an email yahoo.com or gmail.com for correspondence purposes.
4.   PTPTN PIN Number
  • The PIN number can be purchased from Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) for RM5.00 (valid for 6 months ONLY). Please keep the receipt for website log-in purposes

5.   Application and Submission of Documents
Applicants are required to submit the documents listed below to the UCSI University Personnel-in-Charge: Ms. Aziah (Student Enrolment Centre), for online applications. The documents must be A4-sized photocopies:
  • Letter of Acceptance from UCSI University. (Will be provided by the institution).
  • Applicant and parents’ identification cards (IC).
  • SPM Certificate.
  • STPM / A-Levels / UEC / SAM / AUSMAT / CPU / CIMP / UCSI University Foundation / Local Matriculation / Recognised Diploma’s results.
  • The first page of the applicant’s bank account. For those without a bank account, please provide the account statement from the bank (Bank Islam ONLY).
  • Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional (SSPN) member’s card / SSPN deposit slip / SSPN account statement printed from the website.
  • Parents’ pay slips (at least 2 months) / Government Pensioner’s Card / Parent’s J/EA/EC/BA Form / Income Certification Form.
  • Certificate of Death (if parents are deceased) or Statutory Declaration if parents cannot be detected.
  • Confirmation Letter from the Welfare Department if applicant / mother / father / guardian are receiving monthly payments from the agency.
All documents no need to be certified.

List of witnesses who can certify your AGREEMENT:
  • SEC Executive /Pegawai SEC, UCSI University Terengganu Campus (Ms. Shazwani Aida & Ms. Siti Nurul Aziah)
  • Principal / School Headmaster/Headmistress/Senior Assistant of Student Affair (Government Schools only)
  • Professional and Management Group of Government Officers (formerly from Category A)
  • Law Enforcement Officers
  • Justice of Peace / Government State Secretariat Committees ( State Executives)
  • Village Penghulu / Village Headman (Penggawa) / Longhouse Head (Tuai Rumah) / Tribal Leader (Ketua Kaum) / Commissioned District
  • Member of The State Assembly (Wakil Rakyat) The official stamp MUST not represent any political party
  • Advocates and solicitors (Lawyers) The official stamp MUST have the complete firm name and address.

    * Signature and validation stamp from Commissioners of Oath (Pesuruhjaya Sumpah) is no longer acceptable.
All the documents mentioned shall be submitted and verified during the online application as per the schedule below.
 
6.   Verification Documents and Online Application Form
Applicants are required to print out a copy of online application form with full details to Ms. Aziah at the Student Enrolment Centre, Administration Block, Ground Floor, UCSI University Terengganu, for verification before submission to PTPTN via online:

* Late applications will NOT be entertained.
 
7.   Application Deadline
The online application has to be submitted by applicants via PTPTN website for processing before the following dates:
  • 30 May 2014
  • 30 June 2014
  • 30 September 2014
Applicant will be notified of the status of their application (approved/rejected) via SMS and email after 10 days of the application submission. The processing of loan applications normally takes from two(2) to three(3) months. Please contact Ms. Aziah if status on your applications is not notified.

* Students are advised to be prepared to cover their own tuition fees till PTPTN disburses the loan.
 
8.   Amount
The amount approved is based on parent’s / guardian’s monthly income. The amount given below is the per-semester amount which will be disbursed twice a year (long semester ONLY):

9.   Academic Performance
PTPTN will stop disbursements under the following circumstances:
  • Deferment of studies.
  • Failure to complete studies within the designated time frame.
  • Student’s Grade Point Average (GPA) is lower than 2.0 (50%).
Before disbursement of the loan, PTPTN will request the University to provide the student’s results at the end of each semester. Please take note that PTPTN has the right to discontinue disbursement of the loan if the student’s academic performance has deteriorated.

* Please note that for those semesters which PTPTN has stopped payment, the payment will not be backdated.
 
10.   Insurance
Starting on 1 June 2008, all student recipients of PTPTN loans must sign-up for the students’ insurance policy.
  • The appointment of an insurance company and payment of premium (deducted from the loan total) will be handled by PTPTN.
  • Insurance deductions will be done for the first semester only when the loans are disbursed.
  • The insurance deductions depend on the total loan amount.
  • For current loan borrowers whose insurance deductions prior to this are less than the amount stated, the amount will be recalculated and extra deduction will be made.
 
11.   Loan Repayment
Subject to the latest news, PTPTN will charge a 1% service fee per year on the total outstanding loan amount. Repayment of the loan starts six (6) months after graduation or as soon as the student has found employment (whichever is earlier).

Usual repayment periods:
  • Science degree: 240 months (20 years).
  • Art degree: 180 months (15 years).
  • Diploma: 120 months (10 years).
The repayment can be made to Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN) by deduction from the graduates’ salary through their employer.
