Changing medical technologies and better informed patients make for a healthcare environment that is evolving at a fast pace. It is now more important than ever for the healthcare professionals to be adequately trained to effectively meet the demands of healthcare. Playing a crucial role are healthcare educators.

Clinical expertise and paper qualifications alone do not make a healthcare educator. It requires different sets of skills that empowers and inspires learners to do their best for the patients.

As an educator one must be able to combine clinical expertise with responsibilities related to designing curricula, developing courses / programmes of study, facilitating and mentoring learners, evaluating learning and documenting the outcomes of the educational process. This programme is designed to provide the art and science of healthcare-related pedagogy to groom the best healthcare professionals.

Assessment

This Advanced Diploma in Teaching Methodology for Health Care Professionals consists of 70% structured coursework and 30% practicum. The coursework and practicum are based on continuous assessment and final examination. Continuous assessment includes the following components: assignments (lesson planning, construction of test items, oral presentation, research proposal, case study, critiquing, and reflections), and practicum (micro-teaching, actual exposure to classroom and clinical teaching, and counselling of students)

Entry Qualification
Bachelor/Diploma in health-related programmes. Professionals who would benefit from this programme include registered nurses, medical assistants, radiographers, medical laboratory technicians, physiotherapists, pharmacy assistants, and other allied health professionals.
CGPA of not less than 3 or its equiv alent
Preferably with three years working experience after registration

Note / Legend   Discretion is given to Head of School to deal with other borderline Academic Requirement.

English Language Requirements
IELTS band 5.5; or TOEFL score of 550 (writing-based)

SPM Passes - 'D' to 'E'
O-Level Credits - 'A' to 'C'

STPM Principals - 'A' to 'C'

This Advanced Diploma in Teaching Methodology for Health Care Professionals intends to prepare healthcare professionals to become qualified teachers for the healthcare industries. They are able to work in public and private institutions of higher learning, hospitals and healthcare facilities. The programme is also useful and relevant to those who are involved in patient teaching, clinical education, continuing and in-service education as well as community health education.
