Under UCSI University’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences,
the MQA-approved Master of Science in Pharmaceutical
Technology aims to equip science graduates with enhanced
knowledge to conduct research and development for the local
and global science & technology industry. Through this
postgraduate programme, learners will contribute positively to
the betterment of the society by pioneering advances in
pharmaceutical research and development.
Taught by the faculty’s professional academicians, the
programme seeks to instill learners with life-long learning to
develop creative, critical problem-solving skills with good
communication, management and leadership skills. It will also
open doors to career development opportunities for science
Using a mixed-mode structure, this structural combination of
coursework and dissertation oﬀers advanced knowledge in
pharmaceutical technology, as well as ‘elective’ management
courses under the Faculty of Business & Information Science.
To facilitate teaching and learning, UCSI University provides
computer labs, teaching / research laboratories, a library
equipped with online database search services, and modern
postgraduate teaching and research instruments. The
programme also stipulates the completion of individual
pharmaceutical technology research projects.

Minimum IELTS of 6.0 (overall and in each section) or TOEFL 550/230/80 to be obtained before admission.
English language course exemption:
Applicants who are pursuing Bachelor’s degrees in other universities that use English as the medium of instruction may be exempted from taking English classes at UCSI University if the alma mater’s Registrar issues an official letter indicating so to the University. Applicants may be required to attend an interview, conducted by UCSI’s faculty experts, or sit for a written test before they are accepted for admission. Prior to the interview, the applicant is also required to submit a research proposal.
As a growing industry in Malaysia, the pharmaceutical industry has high potentials
for earning foreign currency for the country. Master of Science Pharmaceutical
Technology graduates could contribute to various pharmaceutical industry departments,
encompassing (i) quality control (ii) research and development, and (iii) sales and
marketing. Graduates will also develop applications on business management and
entrepreneurship skills to further enhance their competitiveness in the working force.
Pharmacy is also rapidly developing in Malaysia due to the Ministry of Health’s vision
to increase the pharmacy workforce ratio for the population. Graduates of the Master
of Science Pharmaceutical Technology programme can also advance into various academic
opportunities worldwide to contribute further into research and academics.
