UCSI has the distinction of being the first university to be given this honour — to promote the usage of pepper in cuisines and other pepper-based products both locally and internationally — by the Malaysian Pepper Board since 2014. By representing the Board in local and international cooking competitions and food and beverage (F&B) exhibitions, students get to enjoy myriad opportunities to complement their academic qualifications with invaluable industry exposure.
The Faculty has embarked on tie-ups with leading hospitality schools that boast similar track records of excellence. This provides avenues for student mobility, giving them the opportunity to complete their final year of studies at partner universities in the United States, Britain or New Zealand.
UCSI will launch two new academic blocks come 2017, increasing the campus capacity by more than 1,000,000 square feet of operational space. In addition to that is the UCSI Hotel located in Kuching.
The Hotel is the grandstand for UCSI’s world-renowned Faculty of Hospitality & Tourism Management. It is the only “teaching hotel” in Sarawak and the second for UCSI. The Hotel’s mission is to educate the world’s emerging hospitality leaders. Students will work alongside experienced professionals to hone their skills across all hotel and restaurant operations. It is also a living laboratory for industry-leading hospitality innovation, equipped with state-of-the-art culinary laboratories, lecturing rooms, conference facilities and versatile banquet rooms.
