Student Development & Counselling

The rhythm of university life is one of new experiences and challenges that sometimes pose difficulties to a student's life. There may be some concerns that are not easily resolved. Students may find themselves in great difficulty to talk this over with family members, friends or lecturers.

You need not face this crisis alone. The certified and trained counsellors at to Student Development & Counselling Unit of UCSI's Student Affairs & Alumni Office are here to help you deal with your problems and help to overcome them.

Our Services
1. Counselling
Counselling is a process that focuses on enhancing the psychological well-being of a client, so that the client is then able to reach their full potential. This is achieved by the counsellor facilitating your personal growth, development, and self-understanding, which in turn empowers you to adopt more constructive life practices.

Counselling may be helpful in a number of ways. It can enable you to develop a clearer understanding of your concerns and help you acquire new skills to better manage personal and educational issues. Sharing your thoughts and feelings with someone not personally involved in your life can be most helpful.
2. Workshops, Seminars and Talks
Students nowadays face many challenges; be it personality-wise, academic, emotional or mental. Some students also have issues facing challenging life values that leave them unsure of what actions to take.

The Student Development Programmes offered by the Student Development & Counselling Unit (SDCU) aims to assist students to make positive and informed personal, life and career-related decisions. A variety of services, workshops and programmes are offered to students to help promote personal, character, intellectual, social, emotional and cultural developments outside the classroom.

At SDCU, we believe in educating our current and potential students to develop the necessary life skills in order to enhance the individual(s) personal wellness. The programmes are conducted to equip and allow students to learn to handle issues in life, not only during the programmes, but to utilize them in the future whenever the need arises.
