Dr. Leong Choi Meng (Ph.D.) is an Assistant Professor and Head of Programme (PhD and DBA) of UCSI Graduate Business School at UCSI University, Malaysia. Dr. Leong received Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Financial Economics and Master of Science (Economics) from the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Postgraduate Diploma in Tertiary Teaching from UCSI University and Bachelor of Economics with Honours in International Economics from the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). She has more than 10 years of teaching experience in her area of expertise.
Dr. Leong’s research interests include financial economics, finance, business economics and behavioral studies. She has published 20 papers in Scopus and one article in SSCI. Her current Google Scholar Citation H-index is 9 and Scopus H-index = 7, with over 200 citations (as of 8 July 2022) received from diverse authors and journals. Dr. Leong’s publication is in Economics & Sociology (Centre of Sociological Research & University of Szczecin, Scopus), Journal of International Studies (Centre of Sociological Research & University of Szczecin, Scopus), British Food Journal (Emerald, SSCI), Young Consumers (Emerald, ESCI; Scopus), European Business Review (Emerald, ESCI; Scopus), Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Insights (Emerald, ESCI; Scopus) and Asian Journal of Business Research (MAG Scholar, Scopus).
Dr. Leong received the Outstanding Paper Award at an international conference held in Malaysia in 2018. In the year 2019, she received the Best Paper Award in an international conference held in Macau. In the same year, she also received another two Best Paper Awards at the international conferences held in Malaysia. Her outstanding research is recognized with the Certificate of Merit (2019, 2020), awarded by the Faculty of Business & Management, UCSI University. Dr. Leong also won Gold Award with her master’s student in a research poster competition in 2021 at the national level. She won the Most Promising Researcher in the year 2021, awarded by the Graduate Business School, UCSI University. Her teaching excellence was recognized with the Certificate of Achievement (achieved Academic Evaluation of above 3.50 out of 4.00) for the years 2021 and 2022. She also won Silver Award in International Invention & Innovative Competition (InIIC Series 1/2022) in the year 2022.
Dr. Leong serves as the principal investigator of the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) national grant and obtained total funding of RM76,800 from the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education in 2019. In addition to the internal and external grants, Dr. Leong was also the consultant for The Study on the Impact of Kuching Waterfront Jazz Festival (KWJF) 2019 in Sarawak Tourism and Economics Perspectives.
Dr. Leong is currently the Co-Managing Editor of the Journal of Responsible Tourism Management (JRTM), a Malaysia peer-reviewed journal. She is also the Editorial Board Member for peer-reviewed international journals, namely the International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Sustainability Studies (IJEASS) and the International Journal of Emerging Issues in Islamic Studies (IJEIIS). Recently, she has been appointed as a Member of the Board of Senate for the Malaysian Association of Company Secretaries (MACS).
