Lau Yin Huey obtained her bachelor’s degree in classical piano performance from UCSI University in 2019 and was accepted to study at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) where she graduated with a Master of Arts in Music (Performance) in 2022.

During Yin's studies at the RCS, she explored multiple artistic collaborations outside the compass of classical music such as performing and composing new music (electroacoustic music) with contemporary composers. She also had the opportunity to collaborate with contemporary ballet dancers as a piano accompanist.

Apart from these creative explorations, Yin's primary interest lies in the research on healthy piano-playing techniques and neuroscience in music.

Yin completed her research at the RCS under the supervision of Isobel Anderson and Bernard King and was recently selected to present her research at the Musicians' and Performing Artists' Health and Wellbeing Conference at The Norwegian Academy of Music, Oslo.

As a lecturer at UCSI, Yin is keen to impart her knowledge on injury prevention and the development of healthy piano playing techniques to her students in hopes to help them achieve optimal freedom and comfort in their playing.
