Biography

Tan Hui Sean earned her Advanced Certificate from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Bachelor degree from University of Maryland and Master degree from New York University. During her study abroad, she was a recipient of Eltermann Scholarship, Moses Asch Memorial Scholarship, Graduate Assistantship and Langley Fellowship. She performed regularly with the university’s Symphony Orchestra, UMBC Collegium Musicum, NYU Collegium Musicum and La Salle Baroque Players (Singapore). In addition, she has worked extensively with vocalist in opera workshops, masterclasses and various competitions. Since returning to Malaysia, she has been active in teaching. Some of her students have been accepted into renowned universities abroad with scholarships. Many have also claimed prizes in both local and international piano competitions. Recent years she has also been invited to adjudicate local and international music competitions. As a music scholars, her articles have been published in journals locally and in Shanghai. Hui Sean was formerly the Head of Music Programme at the Cultural Centre University of Malaya. Currently, she teaches piano majors and lectures at UCSI University.
