UCSI University hosted Bursa Malaysia CEO Dato’ Fad’l Mohamed, for an industry-focused edition of the Faculty CEO Series, bringing capital market leadership insights directly to our campus community.
In an engaging conversation, Dato’ Fad’l traced his journey from legal practice to the Securities Commission, investment banking and ultimately the helm of Malaysia’s exchange. He highlighted how being bold, seizing unexpected opportunities and staying accountable for key decisions have shaped his career in a rapidly evolving financial landscape.
Dato’ Fad’l also shared practical perspectives on what modern leadership demands: dedicating substantial time to strategy and talent, building operational resilience across systems, processes and cyber security, and navigating crises when data is incomplete and time is limited. He emphasised that effective decisions often blend data, experience and instinct, anchored by a commitment to “doing the right thing.”
For UCSI students and staff, the session underscored the importance of understanding global economic and geopolitical developments, which now directly influence local markets and everyday life. Dato’ Fad’l’s message to future professionals was clear – stay curious, think positively, cultivate resilience and be ready to step forward when new opportunities arise.
The Faculty CEO Series is part of UCSI University’s ongoing effort to connect students with industry leaders and provide real-world perspectives that complement classroom learning and prepare graduates for impactful careers in finance, capital markets and beyond.
