Overview

The Foundation in Music programme prepares students for a bachelor’s degree in music by building strong musical knowledge and thinking skills. Students will explore music in depth through courses such as Appreciation of Music, Music Listening, Introduction to Malaysian Music and Introduction to the ...Music Industry. Through these courses, students will learn to ask thoughtful questions, reflect on music-related issues and connect ideas to real-world solutions.

To further enhance practical abilities, students will take part in performance and ensemble learning in choir or orchestra, as well as musicianship courses, while also training on their instrument through major and minor instrument studies. The programme also develops teamwork, responsibility and communication, while strengthening digital and media skills through a range of elective courses. It nurtures leadership, autonomy and responsibility in group learning contexts, and fosters values, ethics, professionalism and entrepreneurial awareness, equipping students to make responsible decisions for sustainable success in regional and international music industries.
