16 UCSI Pharmacy students recognised by Malaysia’s leading pharmaceutical companies

KUALA LUMPUR: 16 UCSI University’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences students have been recognised for their exceptional academic and co-curricular achievements at the Faculty’s annual Book Prize Awards.

Backed by Medispec, EP Plus Group, Xepa – Soul Pattison, Big-Caring Pharmacy, Natural Wellness, YSP Industries and Alpro Pharmacy, the RM16,000 in awards recognised the achievements of students set to shape the future of pharmacy.

The University awarded 14 of their Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours), one of their Bachelor of Formulation Science (Honours) and one of their Doctor of Philosophy (Pharmaceutical Sciences) students.

Bachelor of Pharmacy student and EP-Plus Award three-time recipient Law Pei Tze said the honour was especially meaningful given her unconventional journey.

“After serving as a pharmacy assistant with the Health Ministry for seven years, I made the decision to return to my studies. Winning this award affirms the sacrifices I’ve made along the way,” said Law.

“This recognition inspires me to strive toward becoming a pharmacist who not only applies clinical knowledge but also serves with compassion and resilience.”

Bachelor of Pharmacy student and Alpro Award recipient Foo Loke Qing said the recognition reinforced her commitment to serve with purpose.

“This award gives me the motivation to continue this path with even more energy and dedication,” said Foo.

“It reminds me why I want to do this—to care for patients and be a thoughtful, knowledgeable pharmacist.”

Faculty dean Prof Dr Mogana Sundari Rajagopal said the event showcased the calibre of UCSI’s students and the industry’s confidence in them.

“These awards celebrate more than good grades, they celebrate grit, leadership and vision.

Our students are not just tomorrow’s pharmacists, they are tomorrow’s innovators, advocates and change-makers in healthcare.”

Prof Mogana also expressed gratitude to the sponsors for their continued support in nurturing the next generation of pharmacy professionals.

The ceremony, held in conjunction with World Pharmacists Day and the Formulation Scientists Celebration, was attended by UCSI University Council chairman Dato’ Peter Ng, pharmaceutical industry leaders and representatives from universities and research consortia, and was especially significant as it marked the Faculty’s 25th anniversary.

Since its establishment, the Faculty has graduated over 1,500 pharmacists. Ranked in the world’s top 1% in the QS World University Rankings 2026 by virtue of its top 269 ranking, UCSI stands out as one of Asia’s top private universities.
