10 NovJaycee goes from voice to face at UCSI’s 38th Convocation
KUALA LUMPUR: As a voice actor, Jaycee Lim Xin Jie brings characters to life in radio dramas, films and computer games.
She often joked that it would be nice to play herself for a change.
And she did precisely that at UCSI University’s 38th convocation when she headlined the ceremony as valedictorian, representing the Class of 2025.
“It’s an honour to represent my peers, but more importantly, it’s an honour to represent UCSI,” said Jaycee in her speech.
“University is a place of opportunity but it is amazing people who make these opportunities possible from professors to every member of the student community.”
A firm believer that everyone is equally capable of success, Jaycee encouraged her cohort to remember their self-worth and realise their potential.
“You don’t need to be more than others to achieve extraordinary things. You only need to be authentically, strategically and unapologetically yourself.”
Earning a BA (Hons) in Mass Communication degree, Jaycee made the Dean’s List seven times and graduated with first-class honours.
She actively freelanced for clients from the US, Canada and Australia throughout her studies and this helped her win the Outstanding Achievement Award at the MOHE-MDEC Global Outsourcing Talent 2024 competition.
She also clinched first place in the Modern Language Olympiad 2.0’s English Radio Drama category and hosted the University’s flagship UCSI Radio podcast, interviewing media personalities and Fulbright scholars.
Another standout graduate was Oh Khang Chiang who received the Chancellor’s Gold Medal Award for his contributions to research, community organising, fundraising and sustainability.
Earning his BSc (Hons) in Biotechnology with a 3.9 CGPA, Khang Chiang is also a seven-time Dean’s List achiever and he was selected as a Malaysian delegate for the Youth Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative in the US.
“The moment you feel like you want to break down is the moment before you break through,” is a maxim he lives by.
UCSI president and vice-chancellor Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir urged the Class of 2025 to keep evolving in the face of global and technological shifts.
“Upskill and reinvent yourself constantly,” she said in her speech. “Never grow complacent and be mindful that the skills that serve you well today may no longer be enough tomorrow.”
Around 3,000 UCSI graduates received their scrolls this year. The Class of 2025 will now join the ranks of UCSI’s ever-increasing alumni network that includes four Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia inductees and three Prestige 30 Under 30 laureates.
Classified in the world’s top 1% in the QS World University Rankings 2026, UCSI University stands out as one of Asia’s leading private universities.
It is ranked in Asia’s top 30 and eighth in Southeast Asia in the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2026.
