Responsibilities
Security Responsibilities
- Enforce enterprise information security standards and policies.
- Monitor and report security incidents, policy violations, and abnormal system activities.
- Support departments and users in complying with information security requirements and procedures.
- Implement and maintain security controls across existing systems and infrastructure.
- Evaluate security tools, solutions, and processes and provide recommendations aligned with UCSI standards.
- Perform security assessments and vulnerability scanning on systems, applications, and networks.
- Lead remediation efforts for high and critical vulnerabilities with relevant teams and stakeholders.
- Coordinate with external vendors for security-related tools, upgrades, maintenance, and support.
- Provide technical support relating to network, system, and application security issues.
- Maintain and update technical documentation, guidelines, and security best practices.
- Communicate security procedures, reminders, and compliance expectations to end users.
- Escalate unresolved issues to system vendors or the network team as required.
- Participate in security-related improvement projects, system upgrades, and new initiatives when assigned.
Network Responsibilities
- Support daily network operations within the Computer Services Department.
- Monitor LAN, WAN, wireless networks, and overall infrastructure performance.
- Review network, system, and activity logs and respond to alerts when required.
- Attend and resolve IT support tickets in a timely manner using the designated ticketing system.
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot firewalls, routers, switches, access points, and load balancers.
- Assist in planning, designing, and implementing network infrastructure improvements and upgrades.
- Manage and support incident and problem resolution involving server, network, and end-user devices.
- Provide technical support for installation, upgrades, configuration, and maintenance of network equipment.
- Maintain overall network design, connectivity, and security across the organisation.
- Oversee network and security operations for all UCSI campuses, subsidiaries, and related entities.
- Be on standby when required to support operational needs.
- Perform additional duties assigned by your supervisor when necessary.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 2–5 years experience in network administration, network support, or similar technical role.
- Experience managing enterprise network environments (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi).
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, and authentication protocols.
Preferred Certifications (added advantage)
- Cisco: CCNA, CCNP
- Palo Alto: PCNSA, PCNSE
- HPE Aruba
- IT security or infrastructure-related certifications (optional)
Skills & Competencies
- Hands-on experience with network devices such as firewalls, switches, routers, wireless controllers, and access points.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose complex network issues.
- Experience in firewall policy configurations, VPN deployment, and network access control.
- Ability to prepare network diagrams, documentation, and maintenance reports.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and user support skills.
- Able to work under pressure and respond to urgent operational needs.
