Overview

This course is for those interested in pursuing a career in the cosmetic sciences and the business side. It intends to provide an introductory overview of the cosmetic product development, beauty care and cosmetics market and explore career options for the cosmetic chemist. The programme syllabus includes the roles & responsibilities of a cosmetic chemist, suggestions and tips on how to get started with a new career in the cosmetics field.

Entry Requirements

Academic Requirements

SPM/O level

Possess Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with three (3) credits in Mathematics, one science subject and one any other subject, or its equivalent.

STPM

Pass Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with a minimum of Grade C (GP2.00) in any subject, or its equivalent; and possess SPM with three (3) credits in Mathematics, one science subject and one any other subject, or its equivalent.

STAM

Pass Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia

STAM) with a minimum grade of Maqbul, or its equivalent; and possess SPM with three (3) credits in Mathematics, one science subject and one any other subject, or its equivalent.

​SKM

Pass Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM)

(Level 3, MQF) in a related field and possess SPM with one (1) credit

​Certificate

A Certificate (Level 3, MQF) in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00, or its equivalent.

​Note: The credit requirement at SPM level can be waived should the grades obtained at the STPM/STAM/Matriculation level are equivalent/higher
UEC

Minimum grades of B in 3 subjects, inclusive of Mathematics and one science subject.

CGPA of 2.0 and above with minimum Grade E in Chemistry and Biology/Physics/Mathematics.

WAEC/NECO

Aggregate 50% inclusive of Chemistry, Biology and Physics/Mathematics.

International Baccalaureate (IB)

Minimum score of 20/42 in 6 subjects including Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics/Physics.

Minimum scores of 3/7 in Chemistry, Biology and Physics/Mathematics.

Note / Legend:
  • UCSI University Senate, on 22 Mac 2017, has approved that the pre-admission interview and chemistry quiz for BPharm (Hons) to be abolished. Eligible candidate shall be admitted into the programme after approval by the Faculty.
  • International students are required to attend a pre-admission interview.

English Language Requirements

For Local Students

  • Candidates with a minimum grade of A2 in UEC English Language, Band 3 in MUET, 30-31 in TOEFL, 4.0 in IELTS, Grade C in O-Level or IGCSE or SPM English 1119, grade B1 (with at least 2 skills at B1) in CEFR, 140 in Cambridge English Qualification, 140 in Cambridge Linguaskill, and 36 in Pearson Test are exempted from SE004 Basic English and SE005 English Foundation.
  • Other equivalent qualification can be exempted on case-by-case basis. Candidates who scored lower than B+ in SPM English Language or than the above requirement will have to take the SE004 Basic English subject before taking the SE005 English Foundation subject in the foundation year.
For International Students

  • IELTS: 4.0, MUET: Band:3, Cambridge Linguaskill: 140, TOEFL IBT: 30-31; CEFR: B1
