The MSc Biotechnology with Business Management at UCSI University is uniquely designed for professionals who want to do more than just innovate — they want to lead. Whether you're launching a startup, managing biotech ventures or assessing market viability of scientific breakthroughs, you’ll gain the tools to turn research into opportunity and innovation into impact. At the intersection of science and enterprise, this programme equips you to shape the future — not just react to it.

The MSc Biotechnology with Business Management is a coursework-based postgraduate programme tailored for science professionals seeking to accelerate their careers with an edge in business strategy, innovation management and biotech entrepreneurship.
Built on a solid scientific foundation, the programme includes key modules in molecular biology, bioprocess engineering, product development and biotechnology applications across health, agriculture and industry. What sets this degree apart is its integration with business-focused coursework delivered in collaboration with UCSI University’s Graduate Business School — one of Malaysia’s leading private business schools.
You’ll explore topics such as technology commercialisation, innovation strategy, project management, bioeconomics, investment analysis and market research — all taught through the lens of biotechnology. This hybrid curriculum prepares graduates to evaluate the viability of biotech products, drive R&D strategy, manage intellectual property and position innovations for success in dynamic, fast-evolving markets.
Assessments span case studies, business proposals, strategic reviews, research assignments, presentations and a final project that brings together scientific and commercial dimensions. Rather than a conventional research dissertation, the programme culminates in a capstone project or business-oriented research initiative with real-world relevance.
Graduates are equipped to lead in roles such as biotech business developers, innovation managers, product strategists, regulatory affairs specialists or science-based entrepreneurs. The degree also serves as an ideal stepping stone for careers in venture-backed startups, biotech consulting or executive roles in biopharma and agri-biotech firms.
