24 MarUCSI flies high in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026
UCSI is the Malaysian university with the most subjects in the world’s top 50

KUALA LUMPUR: UCSI University leads the way in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, placing in the world’s top 50 for four subjects - the most amongst Malaysian universities.
The four disciplines in the top 50 are: Music (24th), Performing Arts (24th), Art and Design (29th) and Hospitality (47th).
The latest rankings also pass as a new milestone for UCSI. This is the first time the University has made the top 50 for four subjects - the previous record was two.
By placing 24th for both music and performing arts, UCSI maintains its long-standing reputation as one of the world’s top universities for music. UCSI also made a monumental rise in Art and Design, climbing to 29th from last year’s top 150 placing.
UCSI also made an encouraging debut in the field of marketing, placing in the 51-100 bracket. Overall, UCSI recorded a 67% increase in ranked subjects, rising from nine to 15.
Other ranked subjects include Education (Top 150); Petroleum Engineering (Top 150); Business and Management (Top 200); Computer Science and IT (Top 300); Pharmacy (Top 400); Chemical Engineering (Top 450); Economics (Top 500); Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Top 500); Mechanical Engineering (Top 575); and Medicine (Top 650).
“I’m very encouraged to see UCSI flying high in the latest rankings - Malaysian universities placed in the top 30 for six subjects and UCSI made it for three of them,” said UCSI president and vice-chancellor Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir.
“The strong showing is the result of years of hard work and I would like to thank all UCSI students, alumni, staff, industry partners and stakeholders for their continuous efforts and support. Together, we raised the bar.
“Moving forward, UCSI will intensify its efforts in the area of R&D. We will also work together with leading industry players and universities to provide students and staff with greater opportunities in the 4IR ecosystem.”
Classified in the world’s top 1% in the QS World University Rankings 2026 by virtue of its top 269 ranking, UCSI is one of Asia’s foremost universities.
UCSI is ranked top 30 in Asia and eighth in Southeast Asia in the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2026 exercise.
