UCSI launched its MBA (Healthcare and Hospital Management)

KUALA LUMPUR:  UCSI University launched its MBA (Healthcare and Hospital Management), giving healthcare professionals the rare opportunity to learn directly from former Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, who led Malaysia’s national healthcare system through the COVID-19 pandemic.

The MBA provides hands-on learning at UCSI Hospital, Malaysia’s leading tertiary care facility, with real-world hospital case studies and insights from global experts like Prof Paul Arthur Berkman of Harvard University, a world authority in science diplomacy and public health.

Delivered by the UCSI Graduate Business School in collaboration with the Centre for Medical Education and Training at UCSI Hospital, the programme combines business education with experiential hospital-based learning, equipping participants with leadership, strategic thinking, operational management and innovation skills.

Officiating the launch, Dr Noor Hisham who is also chairman of UCSI Healthcare Group said clinical expertise alone is no longer enough in today’s healthcare environment.

“Doctors, nurses, administrators and industry professionals must also understand strategy, operations, finance and people leadership.

This MBA equips Malaysians with the skills to lead hospitals, healthcare organisations and health systems in a sustainable and patient-centred way,” he said.

UCSI University Council chairman Dato’ Peter Ng said that the programme stands apart from other MBAs.

“This MBA is like none other. People in healthcare usually do not understand the perspective of entrepreneurship, especially from the point of view of business. This programme prepares an entrepreneurial pathway for people in healthcare, including understanding how to find profit,” he said.

He added that practicality is what will set the programme apart with UCSI Hospital serving as a living classroom.

“UCSI Hospital will be used as a place for real case studies, not just theory. We also have a vision to transform Springhill and Port Dickson into hubs of medical and education tourism, and this programme supports that vision,” he said.

The programme is now open for enrolment to healthcare professionals and industry practitioners seeking leadership roles.

Classified in the world’s top 1% in the QS World University Rankings 2026, UCSI University stands out as one of Asia’s leading private universities.

It is ranked in Asia’s top 30 and eighth in Southeast Asia in the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2026.
