UCSI UNIVERSITY TRUST PLEDGES CLOSE TO RM1 MILLION TOWARDS SIN CHEW DAILY EDUCATION FUND


Kuala Lumpur, 16 December, 2011 - UCSI University became one of the top private institutions of higher learning to pledge close to one million ringgit towards 2012’s Sin Chew Daily Education Fund. Through the UCSI University Trust, RM935,070 was pledged today at a launching ceremony witnessed by YB Datuk Dr Hou Kok Chung, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and other leaders in the education fraternity. 

Ms. Margaret Soo, Chief Operating Officer of UCSI University Trust in a press interview said that encouraged by the quality of scholars received from the Sin Chew Daily Education Fund, UCSI University Trust pledges more scholarship for the academic year 2012 in hope that more deserving students from outside Klang Valley will stand to benefit from the UCSI’s contribution. Ms Lenny Chiah, General Manager, Corporate Communications and Promotion of Sin Chew Media Corporation Berhad called for the need to provide not just education, but quality education to deserving students whose future depends on the university experience they go through. A total of RM9.3 million was pledged in this year’s MOU signing ceremony, compared to RM3 million when the education fund was first mooted in 2003.
