UNIVERSITY OF SUNDERLAND’S VISIT TO UCSI UNIVERSITY


Kuala Lumpur, 14 November, 2011 - UCSI University is pleased to welcome The University of Sunderland’s Vice- Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Peter Fidler and his colleagues Ms Judith Green (Director of Marketing and Recruitment) and Mr Ian Tan (Director, The University of Sunderland – Southeast Asia Regional Office, Malaysia). Professor Peter Fidler and his colleagues were on a courtesy visit to UCSI University following Professor Dr Lee Chai Buan’s visit to their University in October 2011. 

Dr Robert Bong (Vice-Chancellor, UCSI University), Professor Emeritus Dr Lim Koon Ong (Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs and Research, UCSI University) and Professor Dr Lee Chai Buan (Deputy Vice-Chancellor of International Relations and Postgraduate Studies) had hosted the visit and brief meeting with the delegates to explore future academic collaborations of mutual interests and benefits between the universities. 

The University of Sunderland is renowned for its pharmacy programme in the United Kingdom. Moreover, as pointed out by Dr Robert Bong, UCSI University is currently working on expanding and strengthening its research capacities, exploring new innovations of teaching and learning pedagogies in the pursuit of transforming the University into a global institution. Both universities aspire to create a new generation of excellent theoretical and industry-wise graduates. Dr Robert Bong also remarked on the possibility of collaborating more with international universities to expand the learning and teaching approaches within UCSI University.
