Guest of honour, Deputy Communications Minister YB Teo Nie Ching, joins UCSI’s fashion designers and their models for a group photo, celebrating creativity and empowerment on International Women’s Day.

A vibrant gallery showcased the designers’ works, enhanced with AI tools that transformed their fashion pieces into dynamic, playful visuals blending technology and artistry.

Aina Hadrian Kharulnizam won first place for the fashion design category with her model dressed in a maroon ensemble dominated by ruffles and tiered fabric, creating a voluminous silhouette that feels both theatrical and couture-inspired.

Elysa Naim Mazalan, who secured the runner‑up position for the fashion design category, dressed her model in a minimalist yet modern design, with a focus on clean lines and casual comfort.

In first place for the best picture category is Kezia Vyanda Wijaya’s model in a striking streetwear jacket with bold graphic patterns and a spider-like motif on the back, creating an edgy, rebellious urban look.

Jacklyn Kong Xin Jie celebrated as the runner‑up in the best picture category with her contemporary, urban‑inspired look, which balanced functionality with artistic detail to deliver a modern, streetwear‑meets‑editorial aesthetic.

Kuala Lumpur: 12 young women took centre stage at UCSI University’s 115th International Women’s Day celebration in collaboration with OPPO and KB Colour.

Armed with OPPO Reno15 smartphones, the all‑female students from the Institute of Creative Arts and Design documented their digital campaign in a striking avant-garde style, blending high drama with layered textures.

Guest of honour, Deputy Communications Minister YB Teo Nie Ching, applauded the initiative, stressing that women should be able to lead conversations and express creativity without fear.

“This is the evolution of creative pedagogy, where design thinking converges with digital literacy, where storytelling is amplified by algorithmic reach and where ideas move communities in real time.

“Women should be able to lead conversations, build brands, express creativity and participate in public discourse without fear of harassment, manipulation or abuse.”

UCSI’s Student Affairs vice-president Assoc Prof Dr Mabel Tan Hwee Joo echoed the sentiment, urging students to keep pushing boundaries.

“Fashion and art are timeless and will always endure as platforms for self‑expression. Every statement you make carries the power to inspire, challenge and shape the world around you.”

The showcase also crowned winners for their outstanding achievements.

Aina Hadrian Kharulnizam and Elysa Naim Mazalan captivated judges with their innovative fashion designs, while Kezia Vyanda Wijaya and Jacklyn Kong Xin Jie wowed with striking AI‑enhanced visuals.

With 12 bold women at the helm, the event was a celebration of creativity, courage and the future of female voices in the digital age.

UCSI has long nurtured artists and leaders who shape the cultural and creative industries.

Alumni such as Malaysia’s Queen of Pop Aina Abdul and four graduates named to Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia exemplify how creativity and social innovation can drive meaningful change worldwide for women in creative fields.
