Associate Professor Dr Ganeshsree Wins Highly Acclaimed Award


UCSI University’s Faculty of Business and Information Sciences Deputy Dean, Associate Professor Dr Ganeshsree Selvachandran has reached another milestone in her career by winning the Young Scientist Award (Mathematics), South Asian Education Awards (SAEA) 2018.

The award was presented to her for her overall achievements in research by Education Expo TV (EET CRS), The Research Wing for Excellence in Professional Education and Industry.

As of May this year, she has published six journal articles, among which five were published in ISI indexed journals.  

Her 2018 journal articles include those published in the International Journal of Fuzzy Systems (Springer), impact factor (IF): 2.198, Neural Computing and Applications (Springer), IF: 2.505, Scientia Iranica, IF: 1.025, Entropy, IF: 1.821, and Symmetry, IF: 1.457.

Dr Ganeshsree expressed her sentiments in receiving the award and related how UCSI has played a part in her contributions to the profession. She said, “I feel appreciated by my colleagues and it serves as a good exposure of my work to the academic community.”

“UCSI has provided a conducive environment to do research. I have always had the privilege of working with colleagues who have been very supportive in my research endeavours.”

“They have always encouraged me to do more research and aim for better and higher ranking journals, and this has benefited me immensely,” she continued.

She is currently completing her Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) project on the development of complex fuzzy algebraic structures, complex fuzzy logic models and complex fuzzy hybrid models, and studying the applications of these models in pattern recognition, stock trading, supplier selection, and image processing, among others.

Her latest awards include the Young Researcher Award for Publication Excellence (General Sciences Category) at the 3rd i-Proclaim Annual Research Award Meet (ARA 2017) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on the 31st of December, 2017.

She was also conferred the Young Woman in Science Award (Specialisation: Mathematics), at the Venus International Women Awards, VIWA 2018, which was held in Chennai, India on the 3rd of March 2018.
