Areas of Interest
Ho Su Han is an assistant professor at the UCSI University Institute of Music, where she also serves as Chamber Music Ensemble Coordinator. She chaired UCSI University’s 4th Piano Pedagogy Conference in 2025 and previously served as a vice-chair for its third edition in 2023.
Beyond UCSI, she has presented guest lectures on collaborative piano and chamber music at Universiti Malaya and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. From 2021 to 2024, she was a piano presenter for Trinity College London (Malaysia), giving lectures on performance practice, stylistic interpretation and practical approaches to the Trinity piano examination repertoire. She has also served as an adjudicator for competitions including the UCSI International Piano Festival and Competition, RockFest Music Competition, Wilh. Steinberg Piano Competition and the Perfect Tone Music Competition (Indonesia), among others.
A native of Johor, Su Han holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with Anita Pontremoli. She earned a Master of Music from the University of Houston under Timothy Hester, and a Bachelor of Music from Universiti Sains Malaysia, studying with Dr Jason Tye Kong Chiang.
Performances
- Brass Day. Performed in the showcase concert with Dr Boonyarit Kittweepitak (guest artist from Mahidol University) and Dr Low Chee Meng in the UCSI University Recital Hall, 2025
- Hanging On by a Thread. Performed as a piano duo with Dr Poon Chiew Hwa (from University of Malaya) in two recitals held in Muar, Johor and Kuala Lumpur) respectively. The recitals included the Malaysia premiere of Hanging On by a Thread by Dr Hong-Da Chin (from Western Illinois University), 2024
- Brass Day. Performed in the event with brass players such as John Bourque, Eric Tiow, and Shunzhong Tan in the UCSI University Recital Hall, 2024
- Single Reed Day. Performed in the event with woodwind players such as Dr Low Chee Meng, Alex Tsok, and Julian Ong in the UCSI University Recital Hall, 2024
- 3rd Free Hand Festival. Performed a new composition by Wan Azlan at UCSI University Recital Hall, 2023.
- Music Discovery through Abstract Expressionism Painting. Performed a new composition by Muhammad Sayyid bin Shafiee in ASWARA Gallery, 2023
- 2nd Free Hand Festival. Performed two new compositions by Ainolnaim Azizul and Johan Othman in UCSI University Recital Hall, 2022
- Faculty Recital. Performed the Brahms Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano in A minor, Op. 114 at UCSI University Recital Hall, 2022
