FMIT SYMPOSIUM ON BUSINESS MANAGEMENT & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY


Kuala Lumpur, 2 November, 2011 - The Faculty of Management and Information Technology (FMIT) had successfully launched and conducted its first symposium under the umbrage of UCSI University. Endowed with an enriched research and scholarly mindset, the Faculty proudly presented 21 papers of research work conducted within the domains of finance, general management information technology, logistics, and marketing at three parallel sessions. 

The launch was officiated by Prof. Emeritus Dr Lim Koon Ong, UCSI University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Research; along with Dr Chaw Lee Yen, Associate Dean for the School of Management on behalf of Associate Professor Dr Toh Kian Kok, the Dean of FMIT. In his keynote speech, Prof. Emeritus Dr Lim provided valuable inputs on the importance of research in academia while also sharing with the audience his inestimable experiences. Associate Dean Dr Chaw stated that she was delighted and felt highly esteemed to have such knowledge sharing events within the Faculty. 

Organized by the Faculty of Research and Scholarly Activity committee under Dr Kwek Choon Ling, a senior FMIT lecturer, it was also attended by Associate Prof. Dr Keoy Kay Hooi, Director of CERVIE cum General Manager of UCSI Publishing House, and Mr Tan Ooi Kuan to represent Associate Professor Dr Keith Thomas from the UCSI University Terengganu Campus. Other attendees included all FMIT faculty and staff and its undergraduate and postgraduate students. 

The Symposium aimed at establishing a knowledge-sharing platform to simultaneously encourage current and potential researchers from within the faculty staff and student community. Furthermore, it also helped to enhance the research mindsets of existing staff to pave the way towards the creation of quality research output by faculty members.
