Industrial Visit to Euro-Atlantic


Wednesday 28th May: UCSI University’s Marketing Student Association (MaSA) organised an industrial visit to Euro-Atlantic Sdn Bhd, a leading importer and distributor of specialty fruits, vegetables and marine produce located in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. 

40 students participated in this visit, including the guest of honour; Mr Quah. Euro- Atlantic has 22 years of experience in the import and distribution industry, making them one of the leading companies of the same in Malaysia. This industrial visit was the first for the Company as it was opened only for trade customers previously. 

Upon arrival, Euro-Atlantic’s team members segregated the students into two groups. This was done to provide students with a comfortable environment so they can learn about the processes and operations of the factory. The first group was brought to the meeting room for a brief presentation of the company, while the second group went for the factory tour. After that, the two groups exchanged activities. 

The brief presentation was to introduce the company profile and its management as well as the marketing strategies the company use in their operations. There was also a Question and Answer session where students were given a chance to ask questions for more in-depth explanation on the operations at Euro-Atlantic. 

The speaker, Mr Adrian Ung, Manager of Corporate Affairs and Marketing of Euro-Atlantic also shared with the students about their marketing perspective, which includes how the company is different from their competitors, their promotional activities, upcoming promotions, how the company add value in their products, their customers, their main suppliers and etc. 

Before the factory tour started, all participants including Mr Quah were required to wash their hands with soap, wear a hygiene white coat and a hair net. This is part of the company’s hygiene procedure as Euro-Atlantic complies with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification. This certification is an internationally recognised system for food products safety and hygiene. 

Students were brought into chiller rooms that have temperatures from zero to eight degree Celsius and were shown how food products were kept. Moreover, the students were also given a chance to take a closer look at how an entire salmon looks like. Lastly, students were given avocado smoothies as refreshments while being briefed on the nutritious values that the vegetable has. 

At the end of the visit, participants including Mr Quah had a photo session with the team at Euro-Atlantic. Mr Quah also presented a token of appreciation on behalf of UCSI University to Euro-Atlantic’s representative for having us at their factory. 

This visit was an eye-opening experience for the participants as they gain more knowledge about food import and distribution industry.
