Areas of Interest
Nur Lina graduated with an MA (Performing Arts) from University Malaya, Malaysia. Prior to that, she earned a GDip in Music Studies (University of Tasmania, Australia) and a BMus in Contemporary Music (UCSI University, Malaysia). She also completed a PGDip in Tertiary Teaching (UCSI University, Malaysia). Lina holds several administrative responsibilities at the Institute of Music, UCSI University including head of programme, head of Faculty Internal Quality Assurance, and liaisons between various departments in the university.
In research, her interest in popular music studies started when she attended her first conference presenting about Korean music group, BTS. Since then, she has steadily expanded her knowledge and interests in multidisciplinary fields of music, education, wellness and youth. Her first publication is a chapter titled ‘Music Heals: An Analysis of BTS’ Fan Song “Magic Shop”’ in the book Popular Music in East and Southeast Asia: Sonic (under) Currents and Currencies. Lina was part of HWAITING!: K-pop Music Research Accelerator as a member and writer through Kpop Kollective (kpopkollective.com).
