COMPANY OF THE YEAR AWARD MALAYSIA CANADA BUSINESS COUNCIL (MCBC)


Kuala Lumpur, 05 January 2003 - Sedaya International College is proud to bag the Company of the Year Award from the Malaysia Canada Business Council (MCBC) at the 2003 Business Excellence Awards held tonight at Hotel NIKKO, Kuala Lumpur.

Its President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Peter Ng, who received the award on behalf of the College from the Minister of International Trade and Industry, Dato’ Seri Rafidah Aziz, said the award was a reward of the hardwork put in by the staff of Sedaya International College.

"We also owe it to our growing student population, for their continuous support towards our institution," he said. "As part of our continuous commitment to our students, we will work hard to achieve the University College soon."

Ng said the College has received an official invitation from the Ministry of Education, Malaysia recently to join the premier league of University Colleges in Malaysia. "The Company of the Year Award from the MCBC is only a prelude of greater things to come," said Ng.

Last year, Ng received the Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Council (MCBC) for his visionary leadership that saw Sedaya International College becoming a key provider of higher education in the country.

Ng also received on behalf of Sedaya International College an Honourable Mention in the Good Corporate Citizen Award category for being a college which has made a significant contribution in community development in the area of environmental awareness or in carrying out programmes to help underprivileged groups.

The Sedaya International Group of University, Colleges and School is made up of Sedaya International College in Cheras (main campus) and Kuching, Sarawak, Sedaya International University in Jakarta, Indonesia and Perdana College of Malaysia in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

It also operates the Seri Sedaya School in Subang Jaya and Sedaya Training & Development Centre in Cheras, Klang, Penang and Johor Bahru.

Jazzing up the night was a special musical entertainment by Sedaya International College Choir.

The Malaysia Canada Business Council is a non-profit organization that provides a forum for networking and information sharing and works towards promoting trade and investment between Canada and Malaysia.
