North Port an insightful trip for UCSI students

KUALA LUMPUR: UCSI University’s Logistics Student Association (LSA) recently organised another successful industrial trip to the North Port Malaysia Berhad (NPM) in Klang.

Accompanied by club advisor Ms Salini Devi, a total of 42 students – from the Departments of Logistics Management and Business Administration – participated in the visit.

Upon reaching their destination, the group was greeted by Ms Celina Ho Suet from NPM’s Corporate Communication Division who gave the students a short but insightful briefing about the company’s history, its operations and core businesses.

The educational trip continued with an energetic and inspiring talk by Captain Ahmad Razi Ahmat – a pilot superintendent of NPM’s Marine Services unit. During his session, he shared his experiences – of over 30 years – in the shipping industry with the students and talked briefly about the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).

The next session was conducted by Mr Khirulazman Abdul Malik – the manager of NPM’s Risk Management Section – who spoke on risk management in the maritime sector.

At the end of the day, the students were taken on a tour around the port to be exposed to real-life vessels there and to better understand NPM’s operations.
