Recipient of The CISI Global Educational Trust Award 2019

Dana Teoh, a Year 3 BSc (Hons) Finance and Investment student, recently received the CISI Global Educational Trust Award 2019. The Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) is a UK professional body for finance and investment and in order to qualify for the award, there needs to be a nomination by the lecturer and the candidate needs to come up with an 800-word write-up on a relevant topic among other requirements.

For the actual award itself, the topic was on General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe and this made it more challenging and time-consuming as a lot of work had to be done and in terms of research. For Dana, it took 2 hours of research and 1 hour of writing for a period of one week.

“My studies at UCSI University was helpful in that it covered many financial terms and concepts that were needed in preparing and writing the paper”, said Dana.

“I was exceptionally pleased as I was the only winner from Malaysia. The others who participated in this award were from Myanmar, Philippines, India and Singapore,” she said.

“My particular interest in the field is in the compliance and risk department and for me, the benefits of getting this award is that it will add value to my resume and career path in the future. I am also planning on taking the CISI professional paper to give me that extra edge” she added.
