Winner of the Caring For Sight Design Competition, bagged RM1,000. Her winning digital sketch design featured a boy appreciating the beautiful view of a night sky with his eyes to convey the message, that simple things in life can only be enjoyed when we do not take our eye sight for granted. Her design was printed on a charity pouch that available in L’OCCITANE stores nationwide from October 2021.

Winner of the Caring For Sight Design Competition 2020, bagged RM1,000. His design will be the subject of both the national awareness campaign and the L'Occitane limited edition travel pack. L’Occitane will be producing 4,000 units of the pouch and 100% of the proceeds will go to the L’Occitane Foundation to help the visually impaired.

Chan Chong Joo, a PhD student from the Faculty of Applied Sciences was awarded the Best Poster Presentation Award out of 69 posters presented, at the 45th Annual Conference of The Malaysian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in conjunction with the 2nd International Health and Medical Science Conference, on 18 to 19 August 2021. This event was in collaboration with the Young Scientist Network Malaysia (YSN).

The title of his poster presentation was "Downregulation of Specific Immunoglobulins Responses in Mice Fed with Recombinant Lactococcus Lactis Harbouring Ara H 2.02b Peanut Allergen". His supervisor was Associate Professor Dr Renee Lim Lay Hong from the Faculty of Applied Sciences.

Congratulations The House Of Themis for winning second place at CFA Society Malaysia University Ethics Challenge 2021 (Local Level).
The team comprises three students from Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Finance and Investment and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Accounting in Finance.
The challenge is to increase students’ awareness of ethical dilemmas faced in the investment management industry. Participants will analyse a real case, formulate solutions, and present their conclusion to a panel of expert judges.

Congratulations to Edna Lee for being listed in the Malaysia Book of Record for completing the biggest wall mural painting at UCSI Hospital. She painted the mural all by herself from April 2021 to June 2021.

Teoh Ai Ni was selected by the American Society of Nutrition (ASN) to present her research at the ASN Nutrition 2021 Live Online conference (ASN Nutrition 2021) on 7 – 10 June. Her research was selected by the committee from ASN Nutrition 2021 to be featured in the media. Her supervisor is Assistant Professor Dr Satvinder Kaur from the Faculty of Applied Sciences.

The title of her research presentation is “When you eat could affect how well you sleep while pregnant”.

Double Award at MONASH INITIATE 2021

Chu Chee Chin was awarded the Best Presentation in Drug Delivery and Nanotechnology Award and the Second Prize Award for the Best Oral Presentation at the Inaugural Monash International Health Science and Technology Conference (MONASH INITITIATE 2021) on 16 – 17 June. Her supervisor is Associate Professor Dr Nyam Kar Lin, Head of Research and Postgraduate Studies of FAS.

The title of her research presentation was “Antiaging Potential of Sunscreen Formulated from Nanostructured Lipid Carrier and Palm Oil Tocotrienol-rich Fraction”.

Christina Chong Shook Cheng was awarded the Best Presenter for 3-Minute Poster Presentation (3MPP) Award under the Biotechnology (Postgraduate) category at the 4th International Conference on Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (ICMBB2021) on 1 – 3 June. Her supervisor is Associate Professor Dr Crystale Lim Siew Ying, Deputy Dean of FOAS.

The title of her presentation is Antibiotic Resistance Patterns of WHO priority pathogens isolated from Acute Pharyngitis Patients in Private Primary Care Clinics.
