Biography

A graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music with a Summa Cum Laude, Stephanie Tham is no stranger to the local music scene. A piano extraordinaire, her forte lies in both classical and contemporary music. She has collaborated with artist such as Vince Chong, Altimet, Prema Yin, Bihzhu and many more and have toured internationally to China, Indonesia, Singapore and Cambodia for various music festivals. Currently, Stephanie lectures in the contemporary department of UCSI and Sunway University teaching composition, contemporary piano and music theory. She also arranges and music directs music ensembles and choirs in different schools and organizations. On top of that, she performs regularly with her 8-piece band, ‘Nadir’, an ethno-fusion band that has gained recognition locally and internationally. 

Her music career started in New York as a composer for numerous films and tv series such as ‘A Tortured Life’, ‘A Hero’s Return’, ‘The Morning After’, and ‘Diana’. A worthy mention, A Hero's Return’ – an independent film that she composed for  won numerous awards and accolades US-wide. 

Along the way, Stephanie also developed a deep love for musicals and was fortunate to have had the opportunity to be involved in them. She arranged and music directed a musical, ‘A New York City Romance’, written by Professor Samuel J. Bernstein which premiered in Boston in 2012. At the same time, she also worked at a musical theatre for younger students where she composed and music directed a number of musicals.
