UCSI’s IET Student Chapter emerges champion in Knowledge Hunt 2013

UCSI University’s (UCSI) Engineering students emerged champions in the recent Knowledge Hunt – the first ever inter-club tournament organised by the Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Student Chapter. The event took place in the vicinity of UNITEN’s Putrajaya campus.

The five-man team beat out competitors from the IET Young Professionals Section and IET student members from universities like Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and Multimedia University (MMU), taking the lead in a series of physically and mentally demanding challenges.

These include dodgeball, dancing, a crossword puzzle and Running Man – a ‘survival’ game inspired by a Korean variety show with the same name.

According to one of the participants, Kent Wong Soon Khen, it was a ‘most interesting game’.

The game took place in a multi-storey building and necessitated participating teams to ‘protect’ tags – that were stuck on the back of their helmets – from ‘killers’ who would try to take them.

“In my opinion, team-based games like the Running Man – where we strove to keep each other ‘alive’ – and even the event, in general, promote team-building and strengthen relations among universities,” he said.

Another committee member of UCSI’s IET Student Chapter – namely, Augustine Soo Zhang Shiun – added that he took away key moral values like perseverance and teamwork from the event.

We faced many difficulties, he said, especially during the first three activities but we did not give up.
