UCSI GROUP HOSTS BUKA PUASA DINNER IN PORT DICKSON

Port Dickson, 09 September 2010 - It was an evening of merriment and festivities Tuesday, 7 Sept. during a special buka puasa celebration in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan. UCSI Group hosted the event to show its appreciation for the Port Dickson Municipal Council for its support of UCSI Group’s future campus in Bandar Springhill.

Nearly 200 hundred guests attended the dinner at Glory Beach Resort, including En. Abdul Wahab bin Shamsuddin, Yang Dipertua of Majlis Perbandaran Port Dickson, Tuan Haji Abdul Khalid bin Mat, District Officer of Port Dickson and UCSI Group Chairman Dato’ Peter Ng.

Dato’ Peter, who is originally from the Port Dickson area, said it made him happy to give back to the community that raised him.

“Nothing is more pleasing and more fulfilling than to be able to come to your own home state to do something for the state that brought me up, the state that has given me education and that has helped to make me who I am today,” he said. “We are so proud of this project here at Bandar Spring Hill, Port Dickson.”

En. Abdul Wahab said he canceled previous plans to attend the dinner, because the project is important to him.

“UCSI’s project has a big impact on the Port Dickson community, not only for the tourism industry here, but by bringing people in as well,” he said in Bahasa Malaysia. “We hope with all these projects in the pipeline, Port Dickson will be a more developed city and generate a stronger economy for locals here as well.”

UCSI Group is currently developing a 160-acre piece of land in Bandar Springhill, which will eventually become UCSI University’s main campus as well as a teaching hospital for its Faculty of Medical Sciences. The land will also hold a five-star resort and a 400-room student residence, complete with various restaurants and banquet halls. A private international school that will hold up to 2,000 students will also be built on the property, along with an aquatic park for marine life studies.

Phase 1 of the project is expected to be completed by early 2012.
