UCSI students ‘Dare to be Different’


KUALA LUMPUR: Participants of UCSI University’s (UCSI) - University Life Showcase 2015 amazed with their10 performances introducing notable figures such as Nelson Mandela and Barack Obama. 

The showcase was a course requirement for the Year 1 students taking the subject of University Life in UCSI. In line with the theme, ‘Dare to be Different’, the students introduced their chosen figures through creative performances and storytelling. Each group was given 20 minutes for their performance. The judges then chose two winners. 

Among the 10 chosen prominent figures for the performances were actor John Travolta, founder of Tune Group Bhd, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes; the late Lee Kuan Yew, the first prime minister of Singapore; physicist Stephen Hawking, comedian Rowan Atkinson, singer Wang Lee Hom, actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, President Barack Obama, South African apartheid revolutionary Nelson Mandela, and electrical engineer, Nikola Tesla. 

Apart from being an assignment, the showcase aims to emphasise the value of being different and outstanding among the students. This was exemplified through their understanding of the respective figures who dared to be different in the pursuit of success. 

The University Life Showcase was officiated by Associate Professor Dr Toh Kian Kok, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Quality Assurance and Enhancement and Vice President of UCSI Group Human Resource.
