PORT DICKSON, 28 February 2022 – UCSI University and UCSI Hospital entered a new partnership with Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) to set up the Teaching Hospital at UCSI Hospital, encourage the exchange of academic and research staff, and share manpower resources which shall include but not limited to Medical Specialist but also other healthcare professionals for the day-to-day operations of the said Teaching Hospital.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Dato Peter Ng, UCSI Group, Founder and Executive Chairman; Professor Datuk Ir Ts Dr Siti Hamisah binti Tapsir, Vice-Chancellor of UCSI University and Professor Dato’ Dr Mohamed Ridza bin Wahiddin, Vice-Chancellor, USIM.

UCSI Hospital is Malaysia's first private hospital with a public wing, allowing more people to access high-quality medical services. The hospital, which is equipped with cutting-edge medical technology, automated dispensing systems, and a team of experienced doctors and caretakers, stepped up during the current epidemic to provide care to patients who were in more critical stages of infection.

“With the establishment of the Teaching Hospital, the hospital will be able to provide clinical teaching and training to future and existing doctors, nurses, and other health professionals, as well as provide medical treatment to patients and conduct medical research.

"I hope this partnership we will be able to meet the needs of the national healthcare system by producing more quality doctors, specialists, and trained nurses, as well as talents in disciplines relevant to healthcare,” said Peter Ng.

Aside from the teaching hospital's initiatives, UCSI Hospital, UCSI University and USIM will participate in student, academic, and research staff exchanges.

“At UCSI, we strive to educate our future doctors and nurses to be the best they can be by offering access to clinical practice and patient-centered models of care through our state-of-the-art medical facilities.

“For these future doctors and nurses, we blend classroom and practical teaching so that they may face the real world of medicine when working later. I believe that the exchange programme will provide a platform for graduates and professionals to broaden their perspectives and aim to be the high-level professionals that the healthcare industry needs, " said Siti Hamisah.

The hospital is also a part of the UCSI Healthcare Metropolis, a massive initiative aimed at transforming Springhill into a thriving township of medical, health, and learning. The Metropolis will have a luxury hotel, a convention centre, a lifestyle shopping mall, a skin science and aesthetics experience centre, sports facilities, retirement residences, and praxis® labs when it is

completed. These new additions will be in addition to the existing UCSI International School and Sri UCSI private school in the region.
