UCSI University Celebrates The First Batch Of Graduates Who Completed Their MBA Programme Conducted by UCSI, From Myanmar.

UCSI University's Global Engagement Office hosted their first cohort of MIBA University MBA graduates, who did the distance learning MBA programme with UCSI University.

Having flown in from Myanmar, the students are getting ready for their graduation ceremony that is to take place the next day.

Willie Tan Moh Leong, Senior Vice-President of the Global Engagement Office (GEO), congratulated the students and the fruitful partnership with MIBA University.

'I am happy to say that from our partnership...We have our first cohort of 12 Myanmese MBA students graduating this weekend. To all graduands, my heartiest congratulations, you have done exceptionally well you have met the stringent requirements of the rigorous MBA programme. You deserve this award and will go far in life. Learning doesn't stop here. Your lives start at the end of your MBA programme.

'Since our first partnership negotiations began in 2017, I would like to thank the CEO of MIBA, as well as MIBA itself for having recently gained university recognition for making all of this happen', Willie said.

Also present was Associate Professor Ir. Dr Jimmy Mok Vee Hoong who is the UCSI University Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Student and Alumni Affairs

'Success is about making simple things happen - not about making money. Focus on delivering that, and the right things will follow. Always remember that while one can accumulate knowledge for the sake of accumulation - if you do not know how to apply that knowledge, it is like collecting books at home where your library shelves look nice, and that is it".

Roland Chen, Senior Manager of GEO, reassured that the MBA programme, even while taking abroad, is under the quality control of UCSI University.

'Everything, in terms of the selection of students, qualifications, delivery mode and lecturers requisites is entirely under the Faculty of Business and Information Science of UCSI University.

We decided to speak with 3 of the MBA graduates to ask what was their experience thus far.

Myat Khaung Linn, who is 38 years old, decided to take an MBA that could support his career. After searching for several MBA programmes at Yangon, a friend of his referred him to UCSI University.

'I had never thought of UCSI University before. But after checking it out in the internet, and seeing the World Ranking and how it is the number 1 private university in Malaysia and has very reasonable fees - that's why I decided to study at UCSI University'.

'I am also working as an Organization Development Consultant with public and private organizations. And now that I am working in the SME sector with the Burmese government, where I have to meet the general directors of the SME companies, learning the MBA is priceless.

'Yes, it was a bit stressful as I was working full time as a consultant and had to attend classes on the weekends. There was also lots of group assignments and presentations. After finishing the MBA programme, I realized that I had the capacity and ability to accomplish things far beyond what I had initially thought I could!

'In the next two years, I hope to do the DBA (Doctor of Business Administration), which UCSI University also offers!'

Nyein Pyae, who is 28 years old, said: 'I have a financial accounting background, and I wanted to go further in that field by taking the MBA. We wanted to do an MBA in Yangon, and this programme offered us the flexibility to be there yet still get quality education from UCSI University.

'Because of the distance learning, this is our first time at UCSI University. I would love to go and visit Langkawi after graduation tomorrow!

While she likes the beaches, the other graduates had plans to see the Batu Caves, the Petronas Twin Towers as well as historical places such as Melaka and Penang.

Finally, we have Yee Yee Myintm who at 33 years old dreams of being an entrepreneur.

'I have been working for a long time as a marketing executive. After doing my MBA, I realized I could combine the theories as well as practical applications and can hopefully earn more money. During the MBA I had to solve a lot of problems. My dream is to become an entrepreneur and open up a small restaurant-bar'.

We wish these graduates the best of luck in their future endeavours!
