UCSI UNIVERSITY THROUGH A KALEIDOSCOPE

Kuala Lumpur, 1 October, 2011 - UCSI University’s School of Design has once again put on an outstanding show at a photography cum art exhibition at the annual Kuala Lumpur Design Week that was held from September 16 to October 1, 2011 at Solaris Dutamas, Publika.

Over 30 exhibitors from different backgrounds and industries took part in this year’s exhibition. 12 students from UCSI University also had the chance to participate in the exhibition to showcase 50 various artworks they had designed, throughout the week.

With a creative theme, ‘Insane: Paradigm Shift,’ the School of Design students truly illustrated their creativity and ingenuity throughout the display. The theme was meant to encapsulate how they, as designers and artists, see the world in a different perspective, through a “third eye”, the kaleidoscope.

Lucas Lim, lecturer of UCSI University’s Faculty of Music, Social Sciences and Design and advisor for this year’s exhibition, said that this annual exhibition provides a good platform for students to learn as well as gain exposure within their future field of work while obtaining the opportunity to network and socialise with other exhibitors with the same interest.

“This is the faculty’s annual event. We always encourage our students to go forth and find every opportunity to network with those in the relevant field; gain practical experience to provide them with a firm foundation in their future careers,” said Lucas.

UCSI University has always emphasised on being a Praxis University where students not only gain knowledge through the classrooms but also through hands-on experiences. Students will be able to gain the necessary skills and knowledge and establish professional contacts during their internship that will give them the added advantage in the competitive world after graduation.
