Kuala Lumpur, 9 Jun 2010 - It was an afternoon of fun and joy during UCSI University’s first ever alumni gathering. The alumni, joined by our current A-Levels programme students, returned to celebrate their first homecoming.

Ms. Mabel Tan, head of the A-Levels Academy, organized the event, along with teachers and members of the A-Levels Student Association. The auditorium was abuzz with excitement as Ms. Tan delivered her welcome speech. Ms. Tan’s address was followed by a speech from Ms. Margaret Soo, Vice President of Group Corporate Affairs. Margaret shared the vice chancellor’s vision for the university with the audience before introducing Joyce Lim, manager of Alumni Relations, Shannen Choi, manager of  the UCSI University Foundation, and Mr. Vayne Kam, vice president of the UCSI University Alumni Network Pro Tem Committee.

More than 30 of the 70 students who graduated from our first A-Levels program joined us for the event. While most of them now study in the United Kingdom and India, these former students made time to share in our celebration while spending their summer breaks in Malaysia.

Some alumni shared their experiences abroad and presented PowerPoint presentations on the places they had visited. “The teachers and teaching methods at JSS Dental College in India are very different from the Malaysian education system,” alumnus Mohd Hafizuddin said. “But my foundation here at UCSI University had me well-prepared.”

The event ended on a fun note first viewing recordings of the Annual Nottingham Malaysian Games, organized by alumni now studying in Nottingham, followed by song and dance performances by our current A-Levels students. As we discovered, UCSI University has indeed got talent!
