Mr. Ting is the Head of the Department of Tourism and Leisure and a lecturer in tourism and events at UCSI University Sarawak Campus, Malaysia. He holds a Corporate Master of Business Administration (CMBA) and a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) in Tourism, both from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). With over 15 years of teaching experience, he has cultivated deep expertise in higher education and developed a comprehensive understanding of the teaching and learning ecosystem.
His core research interests lie in event management, tourism management, and business events. Mr. Ting is highly regarded for his active engagement with both local and international industry partners. He has successfully managed student learning experiences, initiated the development of new academic programmes, and organized a wide range of academic and industry-related events, both indoors and outdoors. His credentials include a series of professional and academic certifications such as: Congress Certification Programme Plus (CCP+), Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism, APIEM Professional Certificate in Event Planning, APIEM Certified Event Planner, APIEM Certified Event Manager and APIEM Certified Event Educator.
Academically, Mr. Ting frequently serves as a speaker, moderator, and judge at local and international conferences, forums, and business events. He also contributes to the university through a variety of leadership and service roles, including as an internal auditor, student club advisor, and committee member on institutional initiatives.
Beyond his academic duties, Mr. Ting is an active Committee Member for the Education Pillar of the Sarawak Chapter of the Malaysian Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (MACEOS). In this capacity, he leads capacity-building initiatives and conducts workshops for industry professionals across the Sarawak region. As a professional member of the Asia Pacific Institute for Events Management (APIEM), he remains engaged with the global academic and professional community. His contributions extend to research publications, consultancy projects, and strategic academic–industry collaborations.
