The School of Optometry in UCSI was approved and started on the 16th December 2012 and currently offers a Bachelor’s degree in Optometry. The first student intake was in September 2014. The second batch will be in January 2015 and the next will be in July 2015.

The Bachelor of Optometry in UCSI is a four-year full-time undergraduate programme. The School of Optometry educates the future generation of optometrists and provides training in managing vision problems in a clinical and practical setting. Training for students will be conducted internally and externally through our Optometry clinics, UCSI Optometry Centre and cooperation with our industry partners. This is to ensure students will have adequate training in treating and managing various eye problems and diseases. The courses taught here are structured to improve vision care and clinical skills in all disciplines. 


Responsibilities

This position requires commitment to teaching, research & scholarly activities and contribution to programme administration and management. 



Requirements

Specialise in one of the following areas:

  • Binocular vision and paediatric optometry
  • Geriatric and Low vision optometry
  • Contact lens and cornea optometry
  • Ocular Diseases
  • Community health (Public Health) optometry
  • Primary eye care optometry
  • Paediatric optometry
  • Geriatric optometry
  • Vision therapy
  • Sports Vision


Professional experience and qualifications:

  • At least a PhD degree or currently pursuing PhD will have an added advantage.
  • Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skills and abilities.
