
Overview
The Bachelor of Formulation Science (Honours) programme provides students with in-depth knowledge and hands-on practical experience of the diverse fields in formulation science and technology. The programme trains students with creative and critical thinking, in addition to the research skills needed to design and formulate innovative products in pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, biopharmaceuticals, food, or chemicals. The primary focus of the programme is the intensive hands-on approach and attachments to industries to enhance the knowledge and skills of students for global careers. This programme will equip the students with entrepreneurship skills, marketing as well as the international and local regulatory and environmental standards, with a pathway to register for a related Masters in Pharmaceutical Sciences programme upon graduation.
Academic Requirements
A-Level
Minimum Grade C in Chemistry and Biology/Physics/Mathematics.
Pass SPM or equivalent with minimum three (3) credits including Mathematics, Chemistry and one any other subject.
The credit requirement at SPM level can be waived should the grades obtained at the STPM / A-level / Diploma / Matriculation / Foundation level are equivalent/higher.
STPM
CGPA 2.00 and above with minimum of Grade C (GPA 2.00) in Chemistry and Biology/Physics/Mathematics.
Pass SPM or equivalent with minimum three (3) credits including Mathematics, Chemistry and one any other subject.
The credit requirement at SPM level can be waived should the grades obtained at the STPM / A-level / Diploma / Matriculation / Foundation level are equivalent/higher.
Matriculation or Pre-Study in Medicine and Pharmacy
CGPA 2.00 and above with minimum of Grade C in Chemistry and Biology/Physics/Mathematics.
Pass SPM or equivalent with minimum three (3) credits including Mathematics, Chemistry and one any other subject.
The credit requirement at SPM level can be waived should the grades obtained at the STPM / A-level / Diploma / Matriculation / Foundation level are equivalent/higher.
Foundation in Sciences
CGPA of 2.0 and above with minimum Grade C in Chemistry and Biology/Physics/Mathematics.
Pass SPM or equivalent with minimum three (3) credits including Mathematics, Chemistry and one any other subject
The credit requirement at SPM level can be waived should the grades obtained at the STPM / A-level / Diploma / Matriculation / Foundation level are equivalent/higher.
Diploma/Advanced Diploma/Degree/ Equivalent
CGPA 2.00 and above with minimum of Grade C in Chemistry and Biology/Physics/Mathematics.
The credit requirement at SPM level can be waived should the grades obtained at the STPM / A-level / Diploma / Matriculation / Foundation level are equivalent/higher.
UEC
Minimum Grade B in 5 subjects, including Chemistry,
Biology/Physics/Mathematics, and any other three subjects.
SAM/WAEC/NECO/Candian Pre-u
Aggregate 60% inclusive of Chemistry and Biology/Physics/Mathematics.
International Baccalaureate(IB)
Minimum score of 26/42 in 6 subjects including Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics/Physics.
Other qualifications deemed equivalents to STPM/A-Level by Malaysian Qualification Agency
Aggregate 60% inclusive of Chemistry and Biology/Physics/Mathematics.

- International students not having proof of attaining any of the above test band scores may be issued a Letter of Conditional Offer allowing them to obtain the required band score through the pursuit of the English for Tertiary Education programme for up to 12 months. Students who fail to attain the required IELTS band score within 12 calendar months will not have their student visa extended. Those wishing to continue pursuing the English for Tertiary Education programme may apply for a new student visa to come back again. Students who successfully attained the IELTS band score must start their programme of study immediately and may not be allowed to change programme on the same student visa.

Graduates of this programme can venture into fields related to the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals,nutraceuticals, cosmeceutical, food and beverage, biotechnology, and veterinary products. Other career opportunities include quality control and assurance, regulatory services, product management, sales and support services, research and development for industrial commercial products.
Upon completion of the programme, the graduates should be able to:
- demonstrate knowledge and comprehensive understanding of the concepts in formulation science.
- analyse and interpret data of related knowledge and information in order to suggest solutions related to formulation science.
- demonstrate practical skills and perform formulation science experiments based on guided manuals and conduct basic guided research to generate reliable data for a scientific report, individually or in a group
- communicate effectively both orally and written in relation to formulation science with peers and others
- analyse, interpret and present industrial and consumer product data using digital skills
- demonstrate problem-solving skills by working collaboratively as a group member or a leader in a group to solve formulation problems using scientific approaches
- demonstrate self-directed lifelong learning, awareness of business opportunities and entrepreneurship in the formulation of products
