This degree programme offers students an in-depth understanding of the dynamics of Mass Communication in today’s fast changing world. It synthesises theories, research, practical and intellectual discourses on critical issues in order to develop and instill within students the potential to achieve performance and inculcate leadership qualities in the field of Mass Communication.
Assessments
Coursework percentage: 60% and written examination percentage: 40%.
- A pass in STPM or its equivalent, with a minimum of Grade C (GPA 2.00) in any two subjects and a credit in English at SPM or its equivalent;
OR - A pass in STAM with a minimum grade of Jayyid and a credit in English at SPM or its equivalent
OR - A Diploma or its equivalent, with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and a credit in English at SPM or its equivalent;
OR - A Diploma in Media and Communication or its equivalent;
OR - Matriculation/Foundation or its equivalent, with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and credit in English at SPM or its equivalent.
- Minimum 5Bs including English in UEC
- English Language requirements for UEC students: A distinction (A+, A or A-)
- Students with grade B are required to take English Foundation
- Students with grade C are required to take Basic English and English Foundation
OR
English requirement has been changed to min entry requirement that is IELTS 5.0 and TOEFL 500 (programme standard page 25)
For international students:
In the event that the English Language Requirements are not met, student may be offered a “Conditional Offer” with the condition English competency is met through university’s English module.

English Language Requirements
- IELTS Band 5.0; MUET Band 3; TOEFL IBT 42; Pearson Test of 47; Cambridge English Qualification and Test minimum score of 154
- In the event that the English Language Requirements are not met, student may be required to undertake additional English module(s) prior to or concurrently with the undergraduate programme, based on the University’s decision.
International students holding equivalent academic qualifications but which are not conducted in English, are required to sit for the English Placement Test, which may result in the taking of the English for Tertiary Education (1 to 10 months). Students who intend to pursue the above undergraduate programme directly, are advised to fulfil the above English requirements prior to commencing their studies at the University.
