Overview

The Bachelor of Computer Science in Data Science with Honours aims to equip graduates with specialised knowledge and sound principles to analyse and solve real-world data science problems. These are combined with sustainability and lifelong learning, further enriching the content of this programme. Furthermore, it addresses the increasing demand for graduates who possess strong analytical, ICT and other skills which will enhance their training as a data science professional. These skills can then be deployed to achieve success in their future career pathways.

CGPA of 2.0, and credit (C) in Additional Mathematics or credit (C) in Mathematics and one of the Science, Technology or Engineering subjects at SPM level.

STPM

(Science stream) CGPA of 2.0 and Credit (C ) in Mathematics and one Science/ICT
(Non-science stream) CGPA of 2.0 and Credit (C ) in Additional Mathematics or Mathematics and STEM subject at SPM/O level

​A-Level

(Science stream) CGPA of 2.0 and Credit (C ) in Mathematics and one Science/ICT
(Non-science stream) CGPA of 2.0 and Credit (C ) in Additional Mathematics or Mathematics and STEM subject at SPM/O level

​UEC

5 credits (B6), including Additional Mathematics

​National Matriculation

CGPA of 2.0, and credit (C) in Additional Mathematics or credit (C) in Mathematics and one of the Science, Technology or Engineering subjects at SPM level.

​International Baccalaureate (IB)

Minimum score of 26 points in 6 subjects, inclusive minimum Credit (C) in Additional Mathematics at SPM/O-Level/equivalent

Canadian Pre-U

Minimum average of 60% in 6 subjects, inclusive of minimum 60% score in Mathematics and minimum Credit (C) in Additional Mathematics at SPM/O-Level/equivalent

AUSMAT/HSC/SACE/TEE/WACE/SAM

Minimum average of 60% in 5 subjects, inclusive of minimum 60% score in Mathematics and minimum Credit (C) in Additional Mathematics at SPM/O-Level/equivalent

The terms of credit in Additional Mathematics at SPM level for the candidate with STPM, STAM, Diploma or Matriculation/Foundation qualification can be exempted if the candidate obtained Mathematics and its achievement is equivalent or higher than the required credit of Additional Mathematics at the SPM level.

Other qualifications deemed equivalent to SPM / O-Level by Malaysian Qualifications Agency

Minimum overall average of 60%, including minimum 60% score in Mathematics

Discretion is given to the Head of School to deal with applicants who have results borderline to the Academic Requirements.

English Language Requirements

For Local Students*

  • Minimum B+ in the English Language subject at SPM or Minimum A2 in UEC level or Minimum C in SPM English Language 1119/ O Level English/ IGCSE or MUET Band 3..
  • In the event that the English Language Requirements are not met, applicants will be required to take Basic English and English Foundation for in-sessional academic enhancement concurrently with the undergraduate programme.

For International Students*

  • Minimum English language competency requirements are as follows: IELTS 5.0 or equivalent TOEFL PBT (440) or TOEFL IBT (42) or PTE (Pearson Test of English) (47) or MUET (Malaysian University English Test) (Band 3) or Cambridge English Qualifications and Tests (154).
  • International applicants who do not meet the respective academic programme’s English Language requirement will need to improve their proficiency by enrolling into the English for Tertiary Education programme (R/KJP/00920-00929) which helps them prepare for attaining a required band score. Placement into the various levels of the English for Tertiary Education programme depends on the English Language qualification students have at the point of admission and/or the outcome of the English Placement Test..
