A Midsummer Night’s Dream to Remember

KUALA LUMPUR: To strengthen the ties amongst the students of UCSI University’s Center for Pre-U Studies (CoPUS), UCSI University’s Foundation Student Association (FSA) collaborated with the School of A-Levels Students' Association (SALSA) to organise the Pre-U Night.

More than 200 attendees consisting of the staff from CoPUS, Foundation and A-Level students attended the dreamy affair held at Le Quadri Ballroom, UCSI University (UCSI), North Wing. Themed “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, the event took three months to plan and was led by the organising chairperson, Ms May Myo Set Htwe.

The event started at 7.30pm with the welcoming speech by the emcee, Mr Ahmed Vahidy, a well-spoken student from the Foundation in Science. His speech was followed by a few choice words by the Director of CoPUS, Assistant Professor Dr Mabel Tan. In her speech, she spoke of the joy she felt witnessing the event bringing together both the Foundation students and A-Level students. She also emphasised on how leadership comes with great responsibility especially when it relates to organising such a big event.

During the Western buffet dinner, specially catered by The Quad Restaurant, the guests were entertained with various performances. This included an orchestra performance by The Quintet, which consists of a group of A-Level students. Then, it was followed by performances by Ms Aina and a band made up of some Foundation in Music students and Mr Billie from the Foundation in Science.

Other activities included a lucky draw and the selection of the best dressed male and female student. The highlight of the night was the crowning of the Prom King and Prom Queen, Wong Yoong Koon and Lim Ling Huey respectively. The event ended with a rousing performance of the Frozen theme song, “Let it Go” by Wen Ching, the daughter of lecturer Kong Jee Kim.
