UCSI CELEBRATES ITS STAFF AT BIG BASH


KUALA LUMPUR – 17 June 2007 (Friday) – UCSI showed its appreciation for its staff by throwing a grand company dinner held at the Legend Hotel in downtown Kuala Lumpur on 17 June 2007.

UCSI’s Chancellor, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Abdul Rahman Arshad said, “The success achieved by UCSI today was due to the efforts put in by the staff in the past. To achieve an excellent future, we must invest our best efforts today.” 

UCSI’s Vice-Chancellor and President, Peter T. S. Ng thanked the staff for their dedication and efforts in making UCSI into a university that the UCSI community is proud of. 

During the dinner, a total of 9 UCSI staff received the 15-Years Long Service Award while another 7 staff were awarded the 10-Years Long Service Award. The staff who received their 15-year Long Service Awards are Associate Professor Daniel Quah, Mr. Ng Chee Kiong, Ms. Elizabeth Lou Mou Kit, Mr. Shanker s/o Sathivellu, Mr. Mohd. Noor bin Hassan, Ms. Olive Tan Lei Lei, Ms. Lilian Siow Kim Lian, Mr. Ong Chong Piaw and Ms. Zuraini binti Mohd Sayuti. 

Associate Professor Dr. P’ng Tean Hwa, Ms. Mano a/p V. Veloo, Ms. Magaret Wong Kam Suei, Mr. Thilaga Kumar s/o Raju, Ms. Rachel Teh Ling Ling, Ms. Wendy Au Yong Ming Fong and Ms. Cheah Ah Wha received their 10-year Long Service Awards. 

Some departments joined forces and put up some entertaining presentations such as the line-dancing from the School of Pre-Univeristy and the School of Engineering while the departments under the Office of the Vice President of Research and Corporate Affairs presented their item, “Television in Motion” which won the prize for best presentation that night. 

The highlight was probably the award for Best Dressed staff. The Male category was won by Professor James Graham, UCSI’s consultant from University of East London while Professor Dr. Norfadzillah bt. Hitam, Vice President of Research and Corporate Affairs won the Best Dressed Female Award. 

The company dinner was indeed an event for the staff. There were lots of prizes to be won and almost everyone went home with one.
