Professor Ooi recognised for his contribution to the journal Computers in Human Behavior published by Elsevier.

Professor Dr Ooi Keng Boon, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Information Sciences, has been awarded the “Outstanding Contribution In Reviewing” certificate by Amsterdam-based publisher Elsevier.

The award recognises Prof Ooi’s contribution to the journal Computers in Human Behavior (ranked by Thomson ISI-Web of Science).

The acclaimed high impact journal has a board of editors coming from various countries like Canada, Netherlands, USA, Germany, Taiwan, Belgium, Greece, Austria, Sweden, Australia and South Korea. 

The journal has an impact factor of 3.435 based on the Journal Citation Report (JCR) in 2016 and a citation score of 4.54.

"I'm honoured to receive this award as most of the journals under Elsevier are either indexed with Scopus or Thomson-ISI or both, as with the journal Computers in Human Behavior.”

At the same time, I would like to share this award with the university as I appreciate its strategic direction that emphasises research and the expansion of knowledge”, said Professor Ooi, who has been a reviewer for numerous academic journals since 2007.

"In my view, all academics have a voluntary duty to take up the role as a reviewer. To help maintain the quality of the journal, suggestions and comments are included to improve the paper.”

Prof Ooi added that reviewing also helps an academic keep up with the latest trends in research. 

Outstanding Reviewers are characterised by their response time, the quality of their reviews and the quantity of reviews produced.

In spite of his busy schedule, Professor Ooi makes time to share his know-how on submitting and publishing research papers. 

Prior to his latest award, Professor Ooi also received the Best Reviewer Award by the editor-in-chief of Total Quality Management and Business Excellence (Taylor & Francis, ISI; SSCI) from 2010 to 2014.

He was also named the recipient of the Outstanding Reviewer for the Journal of Industrial Management and Data Systems (Emerald, ISI; SCI) in the Emerald Literati Network 2011 and 2016 Awards for Excellence, and Online Information Review in 2014 (Emerald, ISI; SCI).

He was awarded the Certificate of Outstanding Contribution in Reviewing by Expert Systems with Applications (Elsevier, ISI; SCI) and Technology in Society (Elsevier, Scopus) in 2017.

He also serves a member of the editorial advisory board for numerous Thomson ISI-Ranked journals, which include Industrial Management and Data Systems (Emerald, SCI), Expert Systems with Applications (Elsevier, ISI; SCI) and Telematics and Informatics (Elsevier, ISI; SSCI).

Such journals also include Online Information Review (Emerald, ISI; SSCI), International Journal of Mobile Communications (Inderscience, ISI; SSCI) and Total Quality Management and Business Excellence (Taylor & Francis, ISI; SSCI).

Additionally, he serves as a member on the editorial review board for the Journal of Computer Information Systems (Taylor & Francis, ISI; SSCI) and Employee Relations (Emerald, ISI; SSCI).

He also serves as a reviewer for several leading journals, such as International Journal of Production and Economics (Elsevier, ISI; SCI) and Information and Management (Elsevier, ISI; SSCI).

The list also includes International Journal of Operations and Production Management (Emerald, ISI; SSCI) and International Journal of Production Research (Taylor & Francis, ISI; SCI).

He has been credited with more than 6,200 citations in top-ranked journals with a Harzing’s H-index score of 48 (Scopus H-index = 33).
