UCSI Students shows their ‘UCSI Care’ spirit in community project

The main objective of this event is to educate the students from HE205 Events Operations Management, led by Mr. Ting Hui Bun, to run a practical event successfully. Subsequently, by conducting their community project in Sama Jaya Nature Reserve Park, this encourages the students and public to appreciate and preserve the green environment in one of Kuching’s first city forest park while also practicing healthy living in our current generation.

On the day of the event, the students prepared activities such as Zumba session led by private instructor, ZIN Chloe; park cleaning and also games for the children of Salvation Army, such as child-friendly Foot Reflexology Race, Fruit Guessing, Guessing and Answering and many others to educate our future generation on the importance of caring for the nature while staying healthy. This event was officiated by Ms. Fedilina Ling, a representative from Sama Jaya Nature Reserve.

Project Manager of ‘UCSI Cares’ community project, Joan Law said, “A successful event needs a lot of teamwork as it is the main effort to maintaining the smoothness of the event, and that is exactly what my team has contributed in order to achieve the goals that helped us with our UCSI Care Community Project.”

“We found this community project really meaningful and interesting as we students had the opportunity to have fun with the children from Salvation Army. We all learned how to be responsible guardians! All the committee really enjoyed themselves with Zumba, games and also the cleaning process throughout this event. Universities should organise more meaningful activity like this,” said activity leader, Felix Lee.

“On behalf of all the committee members, we would like to thank our main sponsors – Sweet Memory, for their generous contribution of their stationaries to the little ladies from Salvation Army; Ms Nicole Ong Gek Hua, for supporting our event by contributing to our food and beverage on the day of the event; Sama Jaya Nature Reserve for allowing us to conduct our project in their location and all the joggers and visitors who stopped by to participate our Zumba session,” said Emierson Harris Maxmullame, the sponsorship leader of ‘UCSI Cares’.
