42 senior citizens at the Tong Sim Senior Citizen Centre received free vision screening under the “One Hope Charity Vision Screening” event conducted by the School of Optometry Student Association. With the objective to increase awareness on eye health among the community, this event was made possible through the collaboration and Community Grant from the Association of Malaysian Optometrist (AMO).
Out of the 42 people screened, 40 senior citizens will be referred to the UCSI Eye Centre for further management such as refractive error assessment and complete eye examination. Those with any eye disease, such as cataract and glaucoma, will be referred to the ophthalmologist for a full comprehensive eye check. Free eyeglasses or reading glasses will also be prescribed for patients who require near vision correction.
