Congratulations to Assistant Professor Dr Alwyn Lau Wing Wang Faculty of Social Sciences and Liberal Arts For the publication of his co-edited book titled: MALAYSIAKU: A Collection of Alwyn Lau's Malay Mail Articles (2015-2022) Published by UCSI Press July 2022

Dr Alwyn Lau has co-edited the book with UCSI University lecturers, Dr Jill Lee Sze Seau, Assistant Professor Dr Kususanto Ditto Prihadi and Dr Mohamad Ikhram Bin Mohamad Ridzuan. Alwyn began writing for the Malay Mail in 2015. Since that time, he has written more than four hundred articles on topics ranging from schooling to government to culture and, of course durians. The editors hope that this collection of some of his most popular and controversial pieces in the past seven years may serve not only as a nostalgic trip to some key events in our country, but also, as a conversation starter on some critical topics we may be wise not to forget.

The team from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Liberal Arts were selected to be executive committee members of the 4th Malaysian International Psychology Conference 2021.


RECIPIENT OF THE FUNDAMENTAL RESEARCH GRANT SCHEME

Assistant Professor Dr Zhooriyati Binti Sehu Mohamad and Assistant Professor Dr Crendy Tan Yen Teng

Received the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme of RM 69,400 for her students’ two-year study. The title of her team’s research is “A Study of Views About Self-Empowerment with Happiness Using Meaning in Life and Optimism Among Adolescent Delinquents in Juvenile Detention Center”.

Additionally, she is part of a team that received RM100,000 worth of grant for their two-year research. The title of her team’s research is “A workplace flourishing model: Assessing the role of kindness and work engagement”.


RECIPIENT OF THE MALAYSIA – JAPAN GRANT

Mohamad Ikhram Bin Mohamad Ridzuan |  Head of Praxis, Industry, and Community Engagement

Received an international grant worth RM 6 Million for his team’s four-year long research. The team’s research is entitled “Hybrid OTEC – Development of Malaysia Model (inclusive of Economic Evaluation) under Development of Advanced Hybrid Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) Technology for Low Carbon Society & Sustainable Energy System: First Experimental OTEC Plant of Malaysia.”.
