Assistant Professor Dr MKA Ahamed Khan Awarded IEEE RAS Malaysia Chapter Award of Excellence

UCSI’s Faculty of Engineering, Technology and Built Environment Assistant Professor Dr MKA Ahamed Khan was recently awarded the prestigious IEEE RAS Malaysia Chapter Award of Excellence.

The award recognises individuals for their outstanding service for the benefit and advancement of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) in Malaysia in terms of conferences and meetings, publications, editing, administration, chapter services, or other distinguished service and activities.

Khan, who is now the Vice Chairman of the IEEE RAS Malaysia chapter, had this to say about his achievement:

“Personally this awards means recognition that I am heading the right direction in line with the path to success; that following my heart works, that doing what I love, what I am passionate about ... works. It gives me a sense of peace.”

“Professionally it means I can connect with people in this highly competitive complex world on a bigger scale; help more people; create positive change on a bigger scale; contribute to a society like IEEE focusing on Robotics and overall to education,” he added.

The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society’s (RAS) strives to advance innovation, education, and fundamental as well as applied research in robotics and automation.

Robotics focuses on systems incorporating sensors and actuators that operate autonomously or semi-autonomously in cooperation with humans.

Automation research emphasises efficiency, productivity, quality, and reliability, focusing on systems that operate autonomously, often in structured environments over extended periods, and on the explicit structuring of such environments.

According to Khan, “The support and motivation I gained from my faculty heads and also from my fellow colleagues at UCSI have empowered me with added strength and energy to push myself beyond boundaries.”
